There is little doubt the cyber espionage and rivalry has already turned into battlefield and is viewed by the military as such. However, according to the Washington Post, US military officials reassure that cyber weapons are going to be used primarily as the fire support of conventional attacks in order to blind the enemy before an air strike, or paralyze the enemy's communications during a battle. Combatants can launch an attack anywhere from a few hundred meters away to half a world away with the same devastating results. True cyber war will be the combination of traditional combat blended with advanced technological attacks by 'hacking' the enemy in the field as a means to gain and advantage. One of the leaders of the firm, Alexander Gostev, wrote in his blog that it was “a large and extremely complex virus” that required a rethink of what “cyber war” and “cyber-espionage” really mean.
